| The Wedding Cars |
 |
As well as Bed and Breakfast, we run a small Wedding Car business;
Both Clive and our son Jonathan are committed car enthusiasts and
run
the wedding car business to enable ownership of some interesting and
unusual motor cars.
They range in date from 1928 to 1963 and are available for hire for
Weddings, Social events and Balls. The aim is to provide a friendly
service that fits in with the specific requirements of the day, rather
than giving a prescriptive package.
The cars have been used in the “Poirot” television series, and on “GMTV”
as well as appearing in such divers publications as “Wedding and Home”
magazine, “Elle”, “Cotswold Life” and “Motor Sport” as well as feature
articles in the local Newspapers; “The Citizen” and “The Echo”. |
|
The cars date from an age of elegance where long
dresses and tailed coats were the norm and so have large passenger
compartments with ample leg and head room. |
1928 Citroen AC 4

Used in the Poirot Television Series, and winner of the prestigious
Bugatti Owners’ Club Concours d’Elegance, this lovely Vintage Citroen
has all the real charm of the true Vintage Car. French Racing Blue, over
Black, it is fitted with period design Michelin Tyres and has a set of
magnificent Opera Lamps - a true eye-catcher.

1928 Austin Burnham

Connaught Green over Black this is a true English Vintage Motor Car,
artillery wheels, klaxon horn, nickel radiator and lovely carriage door
handles give this wonderful car true character. A 16 HP 6 cylinder
engine gives a smooth and powerful ride - just not very fast !! The
largest interior of all our cars. |
1934 Austin Berkeley

Discovered in a barn after hard use as a taxi during the war and
subsequently by a Norfolk Farmer, when it was discovered, it still had
the white paint marking the edge of the wings from during “The
Blackout”. Completely restored in Royal Blue over Black by an expert who
spent his spare time restoring old cars, this still retains the lovely
period fittings of internal blinds, picnic tables to the rear and
running boards. Very roomy inside. |
1947 Alvis TA 14

A Burgundy and Ivory 3 position drophead coupé - stunning for those rare
English Summer days when the sun is shining and the breeze is light.
Used by GMTV during their features on Stately Homes to transport the
presenter in style. A very charming motor car. |
1949 Austin Sheerline

An imposing Bentley lookalike from the same period - just post-war
transport with bags of style. Huge chrome headlights and a very imposing
presence make this a car to be noticed in. It weighs two tons and
without power steering can be hard work in confined spaces but out on
the road, the 4 ltr 6 cylinder engine pulls the car along swiftly and
quietly. Midnight Blue over Ivory. |
1954 Alvis TC 21/100 ‘Grey Lady’

Midnight Blue over Old English White, this is a car to be noticed in !
developed as a 100 mph sports saloon it has a powerful 3 ltr straight 6
engine and the straight through exhaust pipes makes sure you are noticed
when coming down the road. |
1963 Alvis TD21

This is a Gentleman’s magnificent black Sports Saloon. The same 3 ltr
engine as the Grey Lady but with an automatic gearbox and refined, all
round disc brakes this is a car to enjoy being seen in. Considered by
many, including Works personnel to be the most refined of the 3 ltr
range of Alvises. Only 289 of these cars were built.
Very stylish ! |
